Of everyone in this market, Tracklution resembles us most. A proprietary managed pipeline rather than hosted GTM, first-party collection on your own subdomain, prebuilt platform connectors, EU processing, a Finnish company that calls itself the done-for-you version of Stape. Genuinely nice product. This comparison is the one we wrote most carefully.
The split is philosophical and it runs deep. Tracklution lets the site owner choose how much consent matters: "Basic" mode loads tags after consent, "Advanced" mode loads tags for everyone and sends cookieless pings when consent is denied, and their DPA places lawfulness entirely on you. HeySignal does not offer a mode where the gate is optional.
Pick Tracklution if you want the fastest possible done-for-you setup, you're comfortable choosing your own consent posture (including Advanced mode's legal position), and Enterprise-tier API access fits your budget when you need your data out.
Pick HeySignal if consent enforcement should be non-configurable, you want named EU infrastructure rather than an undisclosed provider, and you want your event data reachable by API without an enterprise contract.
| HeySignal | Tracklution | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Consent-first tracking gateway, own pipeline | Proprietary managed tracking pipeline (not sGTM) |
| Consent enforcement | Cryptographic, fail-closed, not configurable off | Owner-chosen: Basic (load after consent) or Advanced (tags always load, cookieless pings on denial); DPA puts lawfulness on the client |
| Consent integration | CMP-native adapters (CookieFirst, iubenda) + custom hook; edge reads consent server-side | Reads GTM/Shopify dataLayer signals or manual tlq() calls; no consent audit trail documented |
| Infrastructure | Bunny.net + OVHcloud, named, public subprocessor list | EU processing in Stockholm; cloud provider and subprocessors not publicly disclosed; DPA permits non-EU transfers in generic terms |
| Data access | API-first: everything the dashboard does, the API does | API access on Enterprise tier only; retention 3/12/24 months by tier |
| Consent analytics | Consent Gap revenue analytics with differential privacy | Recovered-events counter |
| Certifications | None yet; SOC 2 Type II planned Q4 2026 | States SOC 2 Type II + ISO 27001 (no public certificates linked) |
| Pricing | Early access; pricing at GA | Free 5k events/mo; Grow €39/mo annual (~€49 monthly, 50k events); Enterprise/Agency custom; €0.0008 per extra event |
Tracklution's Advanced Consent Mode loads tracking for every visitor and, when consent is denied, still emits cookieless pings to Google, GA4 and Microsoft. Several European DPAs have taken positions that make exactly that pattern contested ground. Choosing it is your legal call, which is the point: their DPA says lawfulness is "solely" your responsibility, and the product hands you the dial.
HeySignal has no such dial. Denied means refused at the edge, for every destination, with a signed consent state proving what the visitor actually said. If that costs us customers who wanted the dial, we're at peace.
Tracklution says EU data is processed in Stockholm and stops there: no cloud provider named, no subprocessor list in the DPA, and a transfer clause that permits data leaving the EU under generic "applicable law" language. For a product whose pitch is European trust, that is a lot of trust left unitemized.
We publish our providers by name (Bunny.net, OVHcloud) and keep a public subprocessor list. Verification beats vibes.
On Tracklution, API access starts at the Enterprise tier and the €39 plan retains data for twelve months. The pipeline, pixel and connector configs are proprietary end to end, so leaving means re-instrumenting. That's not sinister, it's just the shape of the product, and you should price it in.
HeySignal is API-first on every tier by design: sites, destinations, events, analytics. A gateway you can only talk to through its dashboard is a gateway you don't own.
Real credit: the fastest setup story in the market (they claim a 16-minute median install, and the product model backs the ambition), a clean first-party collection design, a wide connector list including LinkedIn, Microsoft, Reddit, Adform and Klaviyo, and a sensible free tier. A small Finnish team shipping this much is impressive. If done-for-you speed is your whole requirement and the consent dial doesn't trouble you, it's a decent product.
Both are proprietary managed pipelines with first-party collection, yes. The differences are the consent layer (enforced vs owner-configured), infrastructure transparency (named vs undisclosed), and data access (API-first vs Enterprise-gated).
In their Advanced Consent Mode, tags load for all visitors and cookieless pings are sent to Google, GA4 and Microsoft on denial; Meta and Pinterest sends are omitted. In Basic mode, tags load only after consent. The site owner chooses the mode.
Tracklution lists more ad-platform endpoints (including LinkedIn, Microsoft and Reddit). HeySignal covers the major platforms plus CDPs (Segment, RudderStack) and signed webhooks, with per-platform consent translation on everything. Count what you'll use, not the logos.
Please do. Run HeySignal in shadow mode next to anything and compare the numbers yourself.
